Computer Re-Use Program

Welcome to Mississippi Computer ReUse Program!

This program provides access to refurbished desktop computers that’s free for all Mississippi citizens with disabilities or functional limitations, senior citizens, family members, and their caregivers through an agreement with Jackson State University Recycling Program. 

We have received numerous donations of computers from across the State to help more people with disabilities have accessed to refurbished computers.

Delivery Time:  To consumer’s doorstep by JSU team in approximately two to three weeks from receipt of application and verification. 

Application Process

1. Download Application

2. Application may be filled out on the computer and then printed out for signing and submission.
 
3. Ensure application is completely filled out, and START and agreements are signed and dated.
 
4. Mail completed application, signed agreements, to:

Can’t download/print an application? Please call START at 1-800-852-8328 and ask that one be mailed to you. 

Note: Check The Online Catalog or the MSMATCH for donated “as is” equipment.  If none are “available,” contact START for adding you to the list for equipment needed just in case one becomes available in State. 

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

  1. Q: What does “refurbished” mean?

A:  “Refurbished” means that the computer or equipment has been used before,but has been checked over to ensure it is in good working condition. 
   

  1. Q:  Is this a desktop or laptop computer?

A:  It is desktop computer.

  1. Q:  Do you have laptops?

A:  No, we don’t have access to laptops.  But if someone donates START a laptop we will make it available to applicants.  One website you might want to look at for refurbished laptops that START has found, but by no means endorses, is www.usanotebook.com

  1. Q:  When will I receive my computer? 

A: In approximately two to three weeks after START receives your completed application and sign agreements.  Anything incomplete will delay the processing your application. 
      

  1. Q: Does the computer come with a printer?

A:  No. 
     

  1. Q: How will I get my computer?

A: Your computer will be delivered straight to your door by JSU.
     

  1. Q: Are flat panels monitored available?

A:  No, only regular 17” CRT monitors are available.

 

  1. Q: If I don’t have a printer, how can I get an application?

A: Call or email START and an application will be mailed to you.

 

  1. Q: Does START take in use computers?

A: Yes, START welcomes your donation of computers or any assistive technology device or equipment.
