In 1997 Project START provided funding to Project PAACS (Postsecondary Accommodation for Academic and Career Success) at Mississippi State University to assist in the creation of "College Students with Disabilities and Assistive Technology: A Desk Reference Guide". In 1998, Project PAACS, led by Director Anne R. Thompson followed up with the "Students With Disabilities and Assistive Technology: A Desk Reference Guide". These Student Guides were designed to help Special Education teachers, School Counselors, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors, Students and Families as they sought information about assistive technology in regards to educational opportunities. These Student Guides were quite popular and have been used all over the country. However, they are no longer in print. Project START is pleased to be able to offer these two Guides in downloadable PDF format. You will need an Acrobat Reader to view the The two guides are shown below. Before you attempt to download the guides make sure that you have Adobe Acrobat Reader software. If you need Adobe software, click on the icon above and you will be able to download a free copy of Acrobat 5.0. Once you have the right Adobe software you simply click on the link titled "Click Here" beneath the picture of the guide that you wish to view. Once that guide is loaded you may print out the guide by clicking the printer icon on the toolbar or by going to the File drop down menu and then choosing the Print option.
